We have made this pie before and it is always a favourite. A good one for Pie Week.
There are only ten of these available. Our bake at home beef shin pie with red wine and bone marrow. The bone marrow gives the filling that rich, savoury depth, while the red wine brings a bit of brightness to balance it. Built for four people to share. Or two if you are feeling greedy.
We make it with proper Yorkshire beef shin, slow cooked with red wine and finished with rich bone marrow. Deep flavour. Proper pie filling.
To cook:
Put it in the oven at 180°C for 45 to 50 minutes. Keep an eye on the pastry. Brush the lid with egg yolk before baking for a good glaze.
Serve it simply. Chips. Mash and greens. Nothing complicated.
Once they are gone, they are gone.
And you get to keep the tin.
